Welcome Home Care Workers

Care Community is here to help Home Care Workers with potential employment opportunities and support their journeys in Home Care. We work with a range of providers in WA to help candidates with opportunities for employment.

Care Community provides registered candidates with advice, compliance and training support to be employable to Home Care Providers. Care Community cannot guarantee candidates will be employed by Home Care Providers. 

 

How Care Community Can Help You

As the federally funded Home Care Workforce Support Program in Western Australia, Care Community can assist Home Care Workers with access to Home Care Providers across the state for employment opportunities. We also develop training and support programs, and incentives for participation and employment to help our candidates.

 

What is Home Care?

Home Care in the Aged Care sector is the assistance and support services provided to elderly West Australians to help them maintain their quality of life while residing in their own homes for longer. 

 

What does Home Care work involve?

Home Care Workers responsibilities include the following in general but will vary across different providers:

  • Personal Care. Assisting clients with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, showering, and dressing.
  • Domestic Assistance. Helping with home cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, mopping, dusting, doing the dishes, laundry and changing sheets.
  • Social Support. Taking clients out for coffee, walks or meals. Accompanying clients to appointments and social engagements.
  • Meal Prep. Helping clients with preparing meals and snacks.
  • Food Shopping. Taking clients to do their groceries or weekly food shopping.
  • Transportation. Help transport clients to appointments and outings.

 

Can I work in Home Care?

Home Care work is physical, requires empathy, understanding and self-motivation to work autonomously. If you have these qualities Home Care is for you!

There are roles in Home Care for:

  • Unqualified, entry-level positions
  • Qualified and experienced Home Care workers with a minimum of a Certificate III qualification relevant to aged care.

 

We can help you find work in Home Care if you meet the following requirements:

RESUME

  • You must provide an up-to-date resume including your phone number, email address, and suburb of residence.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

  • Drivers licence (WA C-Class, International, or Green Provisional P-Plates)
  • Reliable access to a vehicle or own your own car

MUST BE WIILING TO OBTAIN 

  • Comprehensive Car Insurance
  • First-Aid Training (Care Community can organise this for you)
  • Police Clearance (Care Community can organise this for you)

VACCINATIONS

  • Covid 19 Vaccinations (Minimum 2 doses)
  • Flu Vaccination

QUALIFICATIONS (Optional)

  • Certificate III in Individual Support, Community Services or similar. Other relevant or higher qualifications in Aged Care, Disability, Health or Medicine can be considered for working in Home Care.

ADDITIONAL COMPLIANCE (Optional)

  • NDIS clearance
  • Manual Handling
  • Medication Competency
  • Working With Children's Check

ENGLISH COMPETENCY

  • Candidates must be able to read, write and communicate in basic English to converse with clients, team members, record information and understand client case notes.

 

What happens when you register as a candidate?

  • Once you have registered a member of our team contact you by phone or email to complete your profile with any missing information if necessary. 
  • Once all the required information is provided a member of our team will contact you for a pre-screening call to verify your information and discuss your suitability for working in Home Care.
  • Your suitability as a candidate for working in Home Care is determined by your location, availability, requirements met, qualifications, and any additional information to support your application.
  • If you are not suitable for working in home care we may inform you. Candidates still considering work in Aged Care or other careers can refer to their local Jobs & Skills Centre.
  • If you are suitable your information will be shared with Home Care Providers to consider for employment opportunities.
  • If the provider is interested in your application they will contact you directly by phone or email.
  • Care Community will contact you periodically to confirm if you are still actiavely job-seeking and speak to you about specific employment opportunities that suit your application.

 

Care Community provides registered candidates with advice, compliance and training support to be employable to Home Care Providers. Care Community cannot guarantee candidates will be employed by Home Care Providers.
